In our last post, we explained how a dental bridge can be used to fill in gaps where one or more teeth are missing. For those who have a bridge or are looking to get one, you may be wondering how long this type of restoration lasts.
Typically, a dental bridge will last between ten to twenty years, depending on how it is cared for. You can make sure yours stays in good shape by treating it well. This includes:
- Avoiding sticky or hard foods that may put too much pressure on your bridge
- Flossing under the bridge to remove any food that may be trapped beneath it
- Be sure to take care of all of your natural teeth (including the ones on either side of the bridge) with proper brushing and flossing
- Visit Dr. Sachs regularly to allow her to check the condition of your bridge
A healthy diet is always recommended, with a reduction of sugary or starchy foods that may lead to tooth decay. If you have any questions about how to care for or clean the areas around your bridge, feel free to get in touch with us!
