Dentures are a cost-effective solution for those who are missing many or all of their teeth.
For those who are missing all or many of their teeth,
complete dentures and partial dentures are a way of restoring the look and function of their smile.
The two main varieties of dentures are complete dentures, which are used to replace either the entire upper or lower arch of teeth, and partial dentures, for those who still have a number of healthy teeth remaining. Partial dentures are made to fill the spaces where teeth are missing, preventing the existing teeth from moving, and restoring the appearance of a complete smile.
In the case of complete dentures, there are two sub-types: conventional and immediate. Before being fit with conventional dentures, any remaining teeth need to be extracted, after which your mouth will be given time to heal before your dentures are designed and fitted. Immediate dentures, on the other hand, can be placed as soon as the remaining teeth are extracted, preventing you from needing to go without teeth during the healing period. As your gums will change during this time, visits back to the office to have your dentures adjusted will be necessary to ensure a good fit.
While
dentures are sturdy and can last a long time, they may require maintenance, fit adjustments, and the occasional replacement.
Reasons to consider dentures:
• Complete dentures can help those who are missing all or most of their teeth
• Partial dentures are for those who are missing groups of teeth but still have other, healthy teeth remaining
• Dentures can help make eating and speaking easier
• Dentures an improve the look of your smile and fill out the look of your face
